Dear Friend,
Greetings from the Progressive Media Project! In
honor of Earth Day, we'd like to share with you some op-eds we've
distributed recently dealing with environmental issues. Also, as the
country experienced historic immigration rights rallies this past month,
we sent out a number of op-eds on this topic.
• "A real 'oil diet' for
Earth Day," by Jason Mark, vehicles director of the Union of Concerned
Scientists.
• "Oil
spills don't belong in Arctic National Wildlife Refuge," by Debbie S.
Miller. The author has explored the Arctic Refuge for 30 years and written
several books, including her recent children's book, Big Alaska: Journey
Across America's Most Amazing State.
• And from the Progressive
Media Project archives, "Hybrid
vehicles are at the crossroads," by Michelle Robinson, Washington
office director of the Clean Vehicles Program at the Union of Concerned
Scientists. This piece ran in at least 13 newspapers, reaching over 2
million readers.
As millions around the country marched for
immigrant rights, we hit the op-ed pages of our nation's newspapers with
immigrant rights-themed commentaries, including:
• "African-Americans
have a stake in supporting immigrant rights," by Alan Jenkins,
executive director of The Opportunity Agenda.
• "Marches
will continue until immigrant voices are heard," by Christopher
Punongbayan, advocacy director at Filipinos For Affirmative
Action.
• "Immigration
rallies echo civil rights marches," by Bernardo Ruiz, a New York-based
writer and documentary filmmaker.
Sincerely,
Jill
